I've spent plenty of time in this store over the years, but this moring I received some great customer service from a young man in the deli section. Unfortunately I did not catch his name, but wanted to shout him out anyway. I came in looking for something in particular and not seeing it out, or in the stuff he was stocking, asked if he had any he'd be putting it out. He said yes, and how many of them did I want and went into the back and came back out a few minutes later with the items. He was very courteous, very polite and it was above and beyond. I beleive he may have packaged the goods I was asking for and brought them to me, and it is just what I needed today.

This is the best place in Lawrence for plant-based and allergy friendly food! There is a good selection of prepared foods and a good amount of options for the size of the store. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the staff pick signs around the store are a nice feature. Prices can be high at times, but sometimes sales here are 2 or $3 better than other stores in town, so you just have to be on the lookout. Sometimes they will be out of the same items for awhile, but that’s a minor thing. Overall if you live in Lawrence and haven’t been, you should definitely check the merc out!

We have been co-op members for more than 30 years, and have never been so disappointed with The merc as now. Their section of medicines and vitamins and health support has been cut to a quarter of what at once was. Even what they still have is disorganized and not cared for or curated. The tea and bulk food sections are also quite diminished and quite disappointing. The people are wonderful as always, and some of the food is great. But very disappointed, and now spending much more time at natural grocers or sprouts.

This happens so often I don't know why I keep shopping here for anything fresh. I guess I feel sorry for the Merc... Their standard has such a low bar. It's hard to tell this is a plum. This Chilean variety should have a white-ish, pink-ish, to yellow interior.

Quality, healthy and delicious items sold here. Prices are very reasonable for this level of food, beverages and take home items. The cookies are some of the best I've had! Excellent place to shop!
